One of the highlights of being located in downtown Kannapolis is the number of family-friendly and often free community events from research talks to cooking classes to concerts in the nearby parks.
Research and Discovery
The UNC Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) holds their Appetite for Life seminars and tours January through November each year. These events provide insight into how the NRI conducts breakthrough research that is advancing the fields of personalized medicine and targeted nutrition. They even have events at Johnson & Whales University that include tips for healthy eating from a registered dietitian that include a chef-led healthy cooking demonstration and tastings. Find out more about how to register for these free events.
Cooking and Exercise
The Cabarrus Health Alliance provides monthly cooking classes and regular exercise classes for the community. The classes are free or cost a minimal fee. Cooking classes include recipes and tastings. Visit the Cabarrus Health Alliance for the dates and times.
The NC State Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI) offers Healthy Living Classes that provide nutritional insights and delicious recipes. Cost varies. Learn more on the PHHI website.
