Golf Tournament to Raise Money for the School Nurse Program celebrates 10 years!
Kannapolis, N.C. – The Cabarrus County Medical Society Alliance announced that registration is now open for the 10th Annual Cabarrus Health Alliance Public School Nurse Program Golf Tournament entitled ‘Swing for the Kids.’
Since 2005, over $265,000 has been raised to help keep a Nurse in Every School through this annual event.
“As a Cabarrus County Medical Society Alliance member, retired nurse, golfer and community member, I have had the pleasure and honor of participating in our fund raising event for the last 10 years. School nurses are so important to our community in support of every public school student in this county, and without this tournament some child at some school may not have had a nurse available to them at a critical moment. A yearly golf tournament has been a fun and rewarding way to support that program by way of personnel or necessary supplies,” shared Mary Ellen Williams.
“Funds from previous years have been essential in purchasing medical equipment for the health offices such as recovery cots, littman stethoscopes, suretemp thermometers, pulse oximeters, welch allyn macroview otoscopes, and most recently – laptops for the implementation of the School Health Electronic Health Record,” according to Kim Ragan and Alice Luttman, School Nurse Supervisors. “These funds ensure that our students are taken care of with the best quality equipment and supplies,” Nurse Ragan continued.
The group set a goal of $35,000 this year. Previous tournaments have yielded upwards of $30,000. Their hope is that teams, sponsors, and donors from previous years will return to celebrate this ten year milestone.
This year the tournament will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Cabarrus Country Club. It is Captain’s Choice with a shotgun start at noon. Registration is $125 per player or $400 for a 4-person team. Mulligans Packages are available for $20 per player, a Putting Contest for $10 per player and an Out of the Cup Contest for $5 per player.
Sponsorships are also available and donations are welcomed! For more information, visit Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Swing4Kidz or email the group at firstname.lastname@example.org.
